BHP Billiton taps The Writing Workshop for a series of business writing workshops.

BHP Billiton’s Houston office recently contracted with The Writing Workshop to deliver a series of business writing workshops for the company’s worldwide staff.

The company’s management has recognized the critical value clear communication brings to their diversified, global business. Clear communication unites people from a wide range of cultures, experiences, and business expertise. And it allows them understand complex ideas and make educated decisions.

“John Sturtevant gave us very good information,” said John Stafford, Global Supply Manager. “His techniques taught my staff how to write what they mean so their readers understand their concepts, and why they are important to our business.”

“This training gave us the skills we need for any type of writing,” added Ronald Chang, Global Supply Manager, Projects. “John emphasizes what’s important when persuading and influencing our readers.”

“Wisdom that connects!” said Robert Wilcox, Contracts Team Lead. “I will use John’s ideas about how to be clear, how to avoid jargon, and how to edit my writing.”

BHP Billiton is the world's largest diversified resources company.

Based in Melbourne, Australia, and with 41,000 employees working in over 100 operations in 25 countries BHP Billiton occupies significant positions in major commodity businesses, including aluminium, energy coal and metallurgical coal, copper, manganese, iron ore, uranium, nickel, silver, and titanium minerals. The company also has substantial interests in oil, gas, liquefied natural gas, and diamonds.
